Well, it is official, my little boy is not so little anymore!!!! How do I know? Well, despite the obvious, he has begun to receive
real homework from school. I have had him do some "homework" on a semi-nightly basis, a few sentences about things he does, a story, response to what he reads, some free assignments where he can draw then write about them. But now I'm talking REAL I-have-to-sit-down-with-him-takes-at-least-an-hour, full fledged homework. There is nightly spelling, math, and reading. It is not too difficult, just takes time. A. lot. of. time. which is a bummer for an active 6yo who would rather be racing his cars or playing Legos than sorting spelling cards. He is learning to take care of responsibilities first before play though. Something he could have waited a while to learn, but he's flexible.
On the bright side, he is SUPER CLEVER and I just love to see him shine!!!!
Here is a video of him reading from the Magic Tree House #6: Afternoon at the Amazon tonight. I had to speed up the clip and select low resolution for it to be small enough to fit, but it's cute. :)
